Karine's website, made to reassure families
Karine is a pediatric speech therapist in Curitiba, Brazil, and she needed a new website. I took care of the design, the code and the Google side, aiming for something light, great on phones and easy to find.

01The context
Karine is a pediatric speech therapist who works with speech, language and communication in autism (ASD). She sees children at her office in Curitiba and also online, for families across Brazil and abroad.
02The problem
She wanted a new website and a stronger presence online. It had to show what she does, explain how in person and online sessions work, say which children she works with and keep her contact details close.
Her audience is very specific. Parents who often arrive on their phones, worried and wanting to understand what is going on with their child.
03The solution
Instead of just listing services, I organized the page in the order that parents' questions come up.
- A conversation before a pitch. The page opens with what parents feel, with the question "Does this sound familiar?", and only then introduces Karine, the services, her way of working, the testimonials and the most common questions.
- Services without the jargon. Six areas of practice, from speech delay to food selectivity, explained in language any parent understands.
- Easy contact. The button to book an evaluation is always in sight and goes straight to WhatsApp. Address and formats of care are answered in the FAQ.
- A welcoming look. Warm colors, serif headings, a large photo of Karine and plenty of white space.
- Light on phones. Written in plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript with no heavy frameworks. Just 5 KB of CSS and 1 KB of JavaScript, with WebP images and two fonts.
- Built for Google. A well crafted title and description, plus structured data so Google understands it is a local practice, who the professional is and which questions come up most.
04The result
I tested the site with Lighthouse, a tool from Google itself that grades every website from 0 to 100. These are its scores.
- 100Google searchHow easy the site is to find for people who are looking.
- 100Well built codeSecurity and good practices from the people who build websites.
- 100AccessibleEasy to use for everyone, including people with disabilities.
- 87SpeedOn a phone with a slow connection. On a computer the score is 99.
Content does not jump around while the page loads and nothing freezes. The whole page, fonts and images included, weighs about 260 KB, less than a single photo taken with a phone.
Measured on September 30, 2026. The phone score simulates a slow 4G connection.
